Community Shows Support for Increased Access to Mental Health Treatment
On Tuesday, September 10th, 2019, the community came together at A Pathway to Hope and Healing to learn more about behavioral health treatment and current programming available at Silver Oaks Behavioral Hospital.
Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jyoti Randhawa, spoke about the signs and symptoms of mental illness in teens and young adults. It is often difficult for parents and caregivers to distinguish between typical adolescent behavior and recognizing the onset of a potential serious mental health condition.
In addition to her presentation, Dr. Randhawa participated in a panel discussion with other professionals working in behavioral health, individuals with lived experience, and mental health advocates. The panelists answered questions from the community and provided unique insight into each situation.
The Pathway to Hope and Healing event was organized by the New Lenox Safe Communities American Coalition in an effort to provide resources and information to the community regarding adolescent mental health.
